lyrics
When we first met, I'll never forget
How the promise in your eyes shined like diamonds in the sky
Tell me what you want, and I'll ask you why
You can have it all if it makes you cry
You say pretty things for a pretty girl
That you would give me the whole damn world
Take me to the fast lane to give it a try
While everybody else is just waiting to die
21, chewing on my bubble gum, Momma says I've gone astray, but honey, I'll write home to say
Carry my words through your bones
'Cause they're the only piece of me that you could ever own
And even if they hurt, the world is still gonna turn
And maybe this time my heart won't burn
But now I'm leaving home
I was your pretty little girl in bubble gum dress
Clinging to your arm and tryna not act too impressed
With the gold you got me dripping in, the wine you've got me sipping in
The castle that you built for two, Now what's a girl to do
And when you came home, eyes of stone
I was sitting on your throne, looking at the mess I made
Gazes locked, gun cocked, pointed to my head
Running from the bed and out the door I said
Carry my words through your bones
'Cause they're the only piece of me that you could ever own
And even if they hurt, the world is still gonna turn
And maybe this time my heart won't burn
But now I'm leaving home
Speeding through the night with the top down
Stop round turtle creek falling on the hot ground
Reaching for the cellphone
Call home, hear the empty ring tone
Desperate for your voice to say
Carry my words through your bones
'Cause they're the only piece of me that you could ever own
And even if they hurt, the world is still gonna turn
And maybe this time my heart won't burn
But now I'm leaving home
I listened to a lot of Steve Lawson's music before buying any. So easy to play in the background while browsing on the iPad. So many moods and good to hear it coming as played live. He gets a lot from a bass and its in HD flac. It was time to catch up on buying... Alan Hall

WTF? How was this not in my Bandcamp collection. I must've bought it from a different account before! Anyway, I've been listening to this since before it was released and a decade on it's still a spectacularly perfect collection of songs. Sounds like a greatest hits album. Literally any track could be chosen as my 'favourite'. Truly astonishing. Steve Lawson
